Who should be interested in VSME & Voluntary Standard reporting?

Such requests come, for example, from major customers, banks, investors, or business partners within the supply chain. A standardized ESG report reduces the need for recurring individual inquiries, creates transparency, and makes key sustainability information available in a centralized location.

What is the difference between VSME and Voluntary Standard (VS)?

The VSME is the voluntary sustainability reporting standard developed by EFRAG for unlisted small and medium-sized enterprises. It was recommended by the European Commission as a voluntary standard on July 30, 2025, and comprises a core module and a more comprehensive supplementary module. The VSME is aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises and features a reduced set of data points. The Voluntary Standard reflects the voluntary application of more comprehensive ESRS requirements for larger companies that are not yet subject to mandatory reporting.
