Juli 2025 von der Europäischen Kommission als freiwilliger Standard empfohlen und umfasst ein Basis- sowie ein umfassenderes Zusatzmodul. VSME richtet sich an kleine und mittlere Unternehmen mit einem reduzierten Datenpunkt-Set. Der Voluntary Standard bildet die freiwillige Anwendung umfassenderer ESRS-Anforderungen für größere, noch nicht berichtspflichtige Unternehmen ab.
