The New Sustainability Standard for European SMEs
The Voluntary Small and Medium Enterprise European Sustainability Reporting Standard (VSME), developed by EFRAG , applies to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Europe that wish to voluntarily disclose their sustainability practices. The goal is to help these companies transparently communicate their environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance and better prepare for regulatory and market requirements.

How does the VSME & VS differ from the CSRD in terms of content?
In developing the VSME, careful attention was paid to ensuring alignment with the CSRD ESRS for large companies, while defining proportionate requirements. Unlike the ESRS for large companies, the VSME ESRS has no legal authority. It offers companies not covered by the CSRD (see above) a voluntary tool for sustainability reporting. VSME ESRS PROCEDURE

This module consists of the basic disclosures B1 and B2, as well as the basic metrics B3 through B11, which cover the fundamental ESG topics.
“Comprehensive” Module
This module builds on the “Basic” module and requires additional information that may be of particular interest to the company’s banks, investors, and corporate clients.
